Heather Anacker and Krista Feld are fiber artists that are also California State University, Long Beach graduates with a B.F.A. in Fine Arts. They both work together as they are collaborative artists but not only they work together but they are also friends. They have an exhibition Dwelling from 2013 located in the SOA Gatov Gallery West and the Gatov Gallery East.

In their exhibition before anything else you do, you would have to take off your shoes before entering. The reason for this is because in a way they want to make them vulnerable in a way and beware of your surroundings so we wouldn’t take things for granted by going into their space and showing their hard work. The way I can describe their work is very home like I can say. We see a lot of natural pieces that they created like woven art. They sculpt bowls, and spoons. It looks like what a home would be. There are basic colors rather than bright like black, white, and gray.

Their art work is beautiful, simple, but creative. It’s not creative as something as it can amaze you and make you shock but it makes us realize that we shouldn’t take the little things for granted. It’s natural and artistic at the same time. They have their work in another level as it shows meaning that we should appreciate.

In my opinion, their artwork was amazing. It show a message that we should appreciate the handmade work, others have worked on. It’s meaningful as they try to connect to us and make us realize that not everything is easy and the little things are special. The Dwelling was cute space that others can visit too whenever they can.
